Treatment Couches

King’s College Hospital | Camberwell, London

Project: Treatment Couches
Where: Camberwell, London
Who: King’s College Hospital

King’s College is one of London’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals, well-known and both nationally and internationally recognised for specialised work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, haemato-oncology and foetal medicine.

We undertook remedial upholstery work for some of the hospital’s treatment couches: as with all medical venues, any small rips, tears or loose seams can be incredibly dangerous in terms of infection control, as these flaws in the surface act to harbour the existence and growth of microorganisms.  Following the client’s approval of the fabric, we re-covered the couches with anti-microbial vinyl which acts against the growth of bacteria and viruses, and which additionally had a durable coating that is undamaged by the strong cleaning materials used numerous times each day.

Understanding that time is of the essence in healthcare, we mutually agreed with King’s the appropriate timescale for the repairs to take place upon acceptance of our quote; thus, the remedial work was returned speedily to ensure the hospital’s constant admirable work to continue unhindered.
